40 YEARS OF CYT!

As we celebrate 40 years of engaging young people in revolutionary theatre-making, it is important to reflect on our journey, from humble beginnings as Canberra Children’s Theatre, through The Youth Theatre Workshop years of the 1970s and into the bold, thriving hub that is now Canberra Youth Theatre, in 2012. Originating with one venue and one director, through to today, where we have 3 full time staff, 10 tutors, 8 associate artists and over 400 members working with some of the best professionals from across the country – CYT has certainly grown through the revolutions of time. In the current climate, to sustain an arts organization for 40 years is an amazing achievement. We are proud to call over 10,000 Canberrans ‘CYT Alumni‘ and we would like to invite you all to come and celebrate with us at our Gala Anniversary event in September!
