cCYT are currently seeking creative, committed and passionate tutors to deliver our high quality workshop programs in 2018!

CYT was established in 1972 and is a youth theatre company based in Braddon, Canberra. We provide professional pathways and theatre skills development for aspiring artists in the ACT. CYT promotes excellence in theatre practice by bringing young people aged 7-25 years together with professional artists to experiment, develop and produce contemporary theatre in a safe and accepting environment.

CYT’s Workshops Program is focused on process. Tutors work collaboratively with our young artists in weekly performance workshops, actively developing and supporting fundamental performance skills. Over time the young actors will learn to successfully navigate the demands of short performances through to full-length productions.

CYT are seeking energetic tutors to run workshops in our Gorman Arts Centre and Drama in Primary School Programs in 2018.

Working in collaboration with the Artistic Director, tutors are required to develop an inspiring program for their workshop group designed to incorporate strong fundamentals in acting, personal development, theatre making and how to make strong artistic decisions. These skills will be showcased at the end of each semester with a short performance for the CYT community.

An appropriate rate on this scale will be negotiated with the Artistic Director.

Tutor responsibilities include:

  • Providing a satisfying and challenging program of workshops based on the themes, styles and skills set in collaboration with the Artistic Director;
  • Developing and promoting a pleasant environment for the participants and co-operative relationships between them;
  • Running all activities safely and maintaining exceptional standards of duty-of-care; and
  • Conducting workshops weekly within the CYT semester timetable and maintaining an attendance register of participants.

All tutors must be registered for a Working with Vulnerable People Clearance prior to commencing work with CYT. http://www.ors.act.gov.au/community/working_with_vulnerable_people;
