CYT Seeks Artistic Director - Maternity Leave Position 1 Year
CYT is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Artistic Director – Maternity Leave (1 year) to begin January 2010.
CYT was established in 1972 and is a nationally recognised and government funded youth arts company which creates and promotes theatre with young people that is inspirational, enriching, empowering and innovative. CYT provides young people aged 7-25 with the opportunity to explore, extend and develop their creativity through theatre workshops and productions.
CYT is a small not for profit company with three fulltime staff members (Artistic Director, Business Manager & Workshop Coordinator). The Artistic Director is responsible for the Workshop Coordinator the overall operation of the Company and reports to the Management Committee.
The Artistic Director is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Company’s artistic program that includes a variety of productions, projects and workshops over the calendar year. Duties also include the preparation and delivery of funding applications/sponsorship, public relations and marketing. It is expected that the Artistic Director will direct at least one production or conduct two workshop series per year.
Applicants should have a proven record of professional theatre activity, a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to young people in the youth arts sector, possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
