Here’s what’s happening at CYT...

Tickets now available for BATTLEFIELD
presented by Canberra Youth Theatre and Little Dove Theatre Art as part of the Canberra Festival
“Heartache to heartache we stand”
After the sell out success of Six Billion Love in 2009, Canberra Youth Theatre and Little Dove Theatre Art have teamed up again to present Battlefield, an exciting new work opening on the 11th of March as part of the much anticipated Canberra Festival 2010.
BATTLEFIELD is a Butoh-inspired Live Art performance that explores the cross-generational desire to reach for perfection through conformity. Using Butoh and 80s dance, Chenoeh Miller (of Little Dove Theatre Art) will direct CYT performers aged 16-25 in the all encompassing sensory experience of BATTLEFIELD. Chenoeh is well known for creating work which fuses the two performance styles of Butoh and Live Art: Butoh originated in Japan in the late 1950s, Live Art was a term coined in the 1980s in the United Kingdom.
Audiences will experience up-close, the physical extremes of the performers as they respond and react to the different audiences each night. It’s confronting. It’s exhausting. It’s exhilarating. It’s a BATTLEFIELD.
Performances:

Where: C Block Theatre, Batman St, Braddon
When: Thurs 11th March – Sat 13th March @8pm, Sun 14th March @6pm
Tickets: Adults $15, Concession $10, Family $40 (2+2)
