TANK
TANK is 6 short, fun and quirky plays about our relationship to water brought to you by Canberra Youth Theatre (CYT). Venture inside the TANK and hear incredible aquatic tales involving crazy Martian zombies, pirates who sail their ships on meat, a bushranger who steals water and a polar bear who is forced to work in a supermarket.
TANK is sustainable theatre. TANK is about water. Our need and use of it. It’s priceless existence. It’s scarcity.
TANK is set inside a small theatrical water tank. TANK is flexible, fun, intimate portable theatre created by and with young people. It is physically small and seats a maximum of 6 audience members. It is a series of 6 x 6 minute plays. TANK is designed by Imogen Keen in collaboration with local sculptor Geoff Farquhar-Still and performed by the CYT Actors Ensemble (ages18-25) accompanied by the Mini Ensemble, a small street theatre troupe of 10-12 year olds. TANK has the capacity to tour the ACT and be taken to wherever the message about water needs to be delivered.
TANK was developed in 2008 through a series of workshops conducted by local playwright Adam Hadley with Canberra Youth Theatre participants aged 7-12. Research and polling reveals time and time again that young people are concerned with the environment. The water shortages in
