Canberra Youth Theatre has stuff to say!

Back in February an energetic group of 10-12 year old Canberra Youth Theatre (CYT) participants brainstormed a list of stuff they cared about... Fifteen weeks later, under the guidance of three prominent local artists, theatre practitioner Adam Hadley, musician John Shortis and sound artist Kimmo Vennonen, STUFF! the radio play emerged.

STUFF! is a 14 minute radio play that takes its audience on a crazy journey inside the Ministry of Stuff! The Right Honorable Godfrey F Kerfuffle is the head of The Ministry of Stuff, the government department which represents the cares and concerns of kids. There are Ministers who are in charge of all the important stuff like… pets, friends, playstations, lollies etc. But watch out because budget cuts are looming and the Ministry of Stuff is in jeopardy!!!!

STUFF! is one of several artistic projects CYT is creating with young people ages 7-25 throughout 2009. CYT is a not for profit, nationally recognised youth theatre company which receives funding from the ACT Government through artsACT and the ACT Health Promotions Grant Program, and the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. Young people at CYT work with emerging and professional artists to unleash their imaginations to create theatre that is inspirational, enriching, collaborative and innovative.
