The sun is shining the blossoms are appearing and SKIN was one of our most successful shows yet. The CYT Actors Ensemble revealed themselves over four days of amazing, physically and emotionally exhausting performances. They performed four 56 minute cycles a day with a three minute break between each. They made over 750 audience members cry, laugh, think, question, feel and remember what it is to be human. Thank you for your bravery Actors Ensemble, Alison Plevey and I feel privileged to have watched you develop so much throughout the last six months and can’t wait to work with you again. Many thanks to all involved in SKIN; Alison Plevey, Johnboy Davidson, Coleman Grehan, Karen Vickery, CYT office staff and National Portrait Gallery staff for your support and belief.

So now we’re straight into production for Dead Men’s Wars. Our cast is confirmed and rehearsals begin with our Australian ensemble next week! We’re about to start building our set, our sound and lighting is in development and costume measurements have been taken. Tickets are now on sale and I’d recommend getting in quick as we’re getting lots of enquiries already.

Our workshops are all going swimmingly! I spent all of August visiting them and meeting our new artists and catching up with our regulars. There are some very exciting projects developing for end of semester performances so prepare to be wowed! We have Parents Week coming up towards the end of September, with special parent catch ups before each workshop showing. I look forward to having many cups of tea that week and seeing you all.

Finally, a huge happy and sad farewell to our lovely Sam. We are so happy for you in your exciting adventure overseas but sad that we are losing you. You have been a vital part of CYT for the last 3 years, we will miss your calm in difficult situations, your creativity in design and your attention to detail in all that you do. Thank you for everything you’ve given to CYT and good luck!
