COCKROACH by Sam Holcroft | 2012 Tour

Australian Premier Tour in Association with Australian Theatre for Young People & St. Martin's Youth Arts

“…the work did what I think all theatre should do, evoke the invisible and unseen shadows that lurk in all of us and within cultures...I think Artaud would have been compelled if sitting in the audience…as I think would Peter Brook...the emerging of a new youth theatre that is bold, dangerous and compelling.”
                                Joe Woodward, ACT Theatre Reviewer

"...we call this adaptation.  A good example of this is the cockroach.”

A teacher strikes Darwin’s theory of evolution straight into the heart of a group of students, trapped in an after school biology detention class - a microcosm of the long and bloody war happening outside the school walls. Dark, uplifting, confronting and stark. CYT, in association with Australia’s leading Youth Arts Organisations, ATYP and St Martin’s Youth Arts, is supporting this exciting team of emerging artists to share this work with a broader audience touring to Sydney and Melbourne in March
