The Verbatim Project rehearsal intensive has begun! Our cast of 16 and creative team of 11 are busily working away in the Ralph Wilson Theatre developing this unique and beautiful work. Rehearsing for six hours a day within a structure that has been created from the individual interviews of the cast members, we’re now devising through physical theatre, dance and realism to stage a work that presents glimpses of the personal experiences of the people performing it. This piece of theatre trusts it’s audience enough to speak honestly to them and knows that it will reciprocate with great respect. Don’t miss it.
All end of semester workshop performances wrapped up last month, with excellent new works of theatre created by our Tuggeranong Ensemble and our Primary Workshops. Congratulations to all involved and again a big thanks to our amazing tutors for your ongoing energy and belief in our young artists at CYT.
In semester 2, we are excited to welcome back our 2015 tutor Anna Johnstone, who had a baby girl at the beginning of 2016 and is now ready to get back into the theatre for our Tuggeranong workshops. We also welcome a new tutor, Andrea Garcia to our Primary School Workshop Program. Andrea has recently completed a Masters in Theatre and has come to us from New York and we are thrilled to have her as part of our CYT team.
Sadly, we say goodbye to one of our wonderful tutors who has been part of CYT for many years, as a young artist, a director and tutor. Nicola Tyndale-Biscoe will be leaving Canberra to continue her amazing work in film. We will miss you Nicky, we wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your future pursuits and seeing you at CYT whenever you’re in town. Thank you for your unwavering support of youth arts.
Finally the staff at CYT would like to thank… you! – our incredible CYT community for everyone’s donations over the past few weeks! We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals, families, and businesses helping our young people continue to create amazing work. You can donate to CYT at any time, and CYT is a charitable organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission and a Deductible Gift Recipient, so all donations over $2 are tax deductible. Head to the CYT website for more details.
See you at The Verbatim Project!
